The meeting adressed the recent developments in autism, domestic and foreign studies done by İLO International, collaborative work that can be carried out by experts who have been doing autism-related studies and nongovernmental organizations in France, problems of Turkish families of children with autism living in France and solution suggestions.
The assessment meeting on “autism” was held in the presense of Turkey Paris Ambassador Hakkı Akil and his wife İnci Akil and was hosted by Consulate General İhsan Emre Kadıoğlu at Embassy of Turkey in Paris on 3rd February, 2016.
Esteemed İnci Akil and İnci Somuncu Botsalı, the wife of the Permanent Representative of Turkey to UNESCO Hüseyin Avni Botsalı, as well as members of nongovernmental organizations, representatives of health-care providers, experts, psychologists, sociologists, educators and academics attended the meeting.
The project effectively began after the results of the studies of İLO International with Turkish children living in France were reported to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his Paris trip, as the subject brought his attention and courtesy.
The presentation titled “Autism will not be your future!” presented in the meeting by İLO International President Neşe Altın and International Director & Science Coordinator Fatma Nur İbaoğlu Zahnd in Turkish and French. The participants experienced emotional moments as the footage of the success stories of the children around the world was shown during the meeting.
Families and their children whose autism traces were removed majorly after studying with İLO International also attended the event. The guests were touched as the children with autism from different age groups willingly followed the course of the long and intense meeting.
The meeting featured the opinions of the participants, mutual cooperation suggestions and İLO International‘s evaluation about the solutions for the problems that families of children with autism face. Psychiatrist Fulya Özgün Roubey, the President of INSTITUT DE COMMUNOTHERAPIE DE PARIS, gave information about the autism-related process followed in France, and the projects that gather experts in autism field with families needing support were also discussed during the meeting.
The presentation introducing a mutual understanding for organizing wider scientific meetings and conferences with Turkish and French academics in the period ahead was concluded with İnci Somuncu Botsalı’s comments and Consulate General İhsan Emre Kadıoğlu’s closing speech.
İLO International committee was invited to embassy prior to their presentation and had a meeting with Turkey Paris Ambassador Hakkı Akil and his wife İnci Akil.
After the presentation addressing the recent developments in the field of autism, common problems of families of children with autism living in France and other countries and solution offers as well as studies conducted by İLO International in Turkey and around the world, the committee of İLO International was entertained in UNESCO office by participant İnci Somuncu Botsalı’s polite invite. Parties had a meeting and exchanged their ideas for further cooperation.
